In 1988, Selleck and his wife, actress Jillie Mack, welcomed their daughter, Hannah Magaret, into their lives. For Selleck, that moment was transformative.
He even decided to relocate his family to a ranch in Ventura County, California, believing it would provide them with the best opportunity to raise Hannah away from the intense glare of Hollywood.
“I quit Magnum to have a family,” Selleck explained to People back in 2012.
“It took a long time to get off the train, but I try very hard to have balance, and this ranch has helped me do that.”
Looking at the present, it’s clear that decision has truly reaped rewards.
Hannah was not only provided with a secure, countryside setting to grow up in, but her life on the ranch also deepened her connection with the animals that would influence her future: horses.
Now at 36, she has built a remarkable career as a top-notch equestrian, earning accolades and recognition for her achievements.
As a child, she shared with The Epoch Times, her parents aimed to provide her with a normal upbringing despite her father’s profession.
“Horses have allowed me to achieve my own successes, separate from my parents’ achievements,” she reflected. Hannah began riding horses at just 4 years old, and she hasn’t stopped since.
