No One Was Willing To Sing The National Anthem, So One High Schooler Took Off His Helmet And Grabbed A Guitar.

Very few things can get your heart racing like a heartfelt performance of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Just ask anyone who witnessed Jackson Dean Nicholson, a senior defensive end at Arundel High School in Maryland, a few years back.

This isn’t about his game skills, but his pre-game rendition of the national anthem. It amazed the home fans and has continued to impress thousands online since then.

Reports say Nicholson faced a choice when he found out no one was ready to sing the national anthem before his school’s game. He could have let a recording play or let the crowd sing along.

But Nicholson is different. Before the game started, he stood alone on the field with just an acoustic guitar and a microphone.

He delivered one of the best renditions of the U.S. national anthem we’ve ever heard, making it no surprise that the video has gone viral multiple times.

Originally posted in 2018, the video’s continued relevance and impressive quality show how talented Nicholson is as a singer.

“It was really cool. I probably recognized 90 percent of the people in the stands, and they had no clue I was performing until I took out my guitar,” Nicholson told the Baltimore Sun back then.

Check out the amazing performance below.

Jackson may have had a brief moment as a senior defensive end, but his real love is music. He has been writing and performing songs since he was a freshman and was even working on his own album when he gained fame.

To avoid confusion with the well-known Jack Nicholson, he chose the stage name Jackson Dean.

Reflecting on his football journey in 2018, Jackson stated, “This is my last year, then I’m done. I’ll finish my credits by January, and I only need to be enrolled this semester. My principal gave me a waiver and supports my goals.

“I’m going to go for it.”

Wishing you all the best, Jackson!

We are still amazed by Jackson’s performance and want everyone to see it.
