A lot of us are so used to buying groceries from stores that we sometimes overlook the fantastic food that nature has to offer.

If you go to the right forest during the right season, you can find all sorts of interesting things to gather (just make sure to be careful when picking mushrooms).

You might even discover healthy treats right in your own yard, depending on where you live. Don’t believe me? Keep reading…

Honestly, I’m not a plant whiz. I can’t tell most plants and herbs apart just by looking at them, and I definitely wouldn’t be the best at figuring out which ones are safe to eat.

But when I first heard about purslane, I knew I had to learn more about it.

Purslane is often thought of as a weed in many areas, but it’s actually a healthy green vegetable that you can eat, and it probably should be, just like other greens such as spinach and lettuce.

Purslane is a plant you might see popping up in the cracks of sidewalks, but it also likes to grow in gardens. This plant has been used for a long time in both traditional and alternative medicine, and it doesn’t take much work to keep it in check.

On top of that, purslane is thought to help the soil by stopping erosion. If you have this vegetable in your yard, it can make your soil healthier and more stable, which is great for the other plants nearby.

You might be wondering why you should eat purslane. The reason is that it’s packed with important nutrients! It has omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins A, C, and E, plus minerals like magnesium, calcium, potassium, and iron.

In summary, purslane is found in many different places, and it might even be growing right in your backyard. If that’s the case, I suggest you take advantage of it!
