A family in Australia is taking a stand against developers in a remarkable way by refusing all offers for their property. While many have heard tales of individuals standing up to authority, this family is truly raising the bar.
Reports indicate that they have consistently turned down proposals from developers who have since constructed an entire suburb around their estate. The owners of this impressive mansion, reminiscent of Windsor Castle, insist that their home is priceless. The property boasts a lengthy 650-foot driveway and is enveloped by beautiful gardens, all while offering stunning views of the Blue Mountains.
Developers are reportedly eager to acquire the land, having made several substantial offers, but the family remains steadfast in their decision to decline.
In 2012, reports indicated that the majority of the nearby land parcels were sold, with the property in question estimated to be worth around $4.75 million at that time. Fast forward a decade, and experts now suggest that the home’s value could reach an astonishing $50 million!
Taylor Bredin, a real estate agent from Ray White Quakers Hill, shared with 7News: “Most people sold their properties long ago, but these owners have held on, and they deserve all the credit for that.
“If you really push the development plan, you could potentially fit 40 to 50 properties on this land, and once subdivided, a 300 square metre lot could fetch a million dollars.”
The property is now surrounded on all sides by houses that have been constructed right up to its boundary. Nevertheless, the family residing there has no intention of selling and enjoys their life in the cul-de-sac.
Diane Zammit, 50, shared with Daily Mail Australia that the area was once “farmland sprinkled with charming little red brick houses and cottages.”
“Each home had its own character, and there was plenty of open space – but that’s no longer the case. It’s just not the same anymore,” she expressed.
