Elvis Presley’s private flight from 1962 has finally been sold – the interior is amazing

Elvis Presley was not only famous for his amazing music career and unique voice that blew away millions around the world.

He also had a keen eye for food and fashion (blue suede shoes, anyone?).

Not everyone knows that the rock legend had a special talent for decorating too. A great example of this is his famous private jet, which really shows off his unique style.

Elvis purchased his own aircraft in 1962 – and saw that it be custom designed to suit him personally.

A look inside and you immediately observe the beautiful wooden panels, carpet and red velvet chairs.

Elvis owned the aircraft, a Lockheed Jetstar model, for over 35 years, but it was abandoned when he died in 1977. Among Presley’s collection of private aircraft, this Lockheed was just one notable example.

He had a special Convair 880 that he called the “Lisa Marie,” and its call sign was Hound Dog 1. He also owned another JetStar plane called Hound Dog 2. Presley’s collection of private planes showed just how lavish his lifestyle was and how much he loved flying.

The aircraft below had been standing on a road in Roswell, New Mexico, USA, for many years. But after all this time, the plane has finally been auctioned off – and an Elvis fan(?) recently bought it via telephone for $260,000 at a Flordia auction.

When the plane first lifted above the clouds, Elvis was sharing it with his father, Vernon Presley.

After Elvis passed away, the plane has been sitting in a unique place in New Mexico for more than 30 years. If you examine the outside of the plane closely, you’ll notice that its red color has faded quite a bit. However, considering how old it is, the plane is still in pretty decent shape.

Check out the interior! Honestly, I wouldn’t mind being on a long flight in this plane. It totally matches what I picture the King of Rock’s style to be like.

The walls are covered with wooden panels and the chairs are covered in soft red velvet.

A ‘high-tech’ tv is of course installed. The plane is mostly made up of one single large room.

The seats look very comfortable and there is plenty of room for guests. Behind the main room is a small kitchen.

Check out the microwave! It’s likely broken after all this time. Now, picture Elvis getting up from his chair and heading to the kitchen to make one of his famous sandwiches. You know, the one with peanut butter, mayonnaise, crispy bacon, and banana? Then he would pop it in the microwave. That’s some cool rock history!

Check out the bathroom! It’s got even more velvet and a fancy sink. Just think about how cramped it is on charter flights compared to this!

This is pretty cool, isn’t it? I’m really happy I got a glimpse of how Elvis traveled in style!

The airplane was recently sold at an auction for $260,000. It was put up for sale during the Mecum Kissimmee Collector Car auction in Florida on January 8.

The new owner placed bids over the phone and their identity is still unknown.

Feel free to share this if you love Elvis and you know others who do, too!
