Just days after her fairytale wedding to Jeremy Scheuch, Danielle Colby from American Pickers experienced a profound loss as she bid farewell to the real-life Santa Claus who brought “unexplainable magic” into her life.

Fans of American Pickers were excited to catch glimpses of Danielle Colby’s dream wedding to Jeremy Scheuch on February 15, 2024.

Radiating beauty in a stunning powder blue gown that flowed elegantly behind her, the 49-year-old star exchanged vows with Scheuch, a professional photographer, during a picturesque open-air ceremony in Puerto Rico.

The wedding beautifully combined rustic charm with artistic elements, reflecting the couple’s distinctive style and their mutual passion for creativity.

In a Facebook post on February 17, the TV personality shared a touching photo of herself and Scheuch at the altar, their silhouettes harmonizing with the vibrant blue sky behind them.

“In this moment, I was the happiest I have ever been. Standing on the edge of a mountain with my best friend, overlooking the vast ocean, surrounded by loving family and friends,” Colby expressed in her post.

Next, regarding “Papa John,” Jeremy’s father, who was noticeably missing, she expressed: “Our hearts are full, but we felt a deep absence from Jeremy’s family, who are with his dad as he battles cancer. Their absence left a void in our hearts, yet we could feel their spirit with us.”

Just days after the couple tied the knot, Colby posted another picture on social media with the caption, “Hold on Papa John, we are on our way.”

On February 19, the newlyweds made their way from Puerto Rico to Kansas City, where Jeremy’s father was losing his fight against cancer.

That same day, John, who had brought joy to countless children as Santa Claus for over 40 years, passed away from cancer at the age of 70.

As they navigated the complex feelings of grief alongside their joy, Colby, always open with her followers, shared how this loss has profoundly impacted their family, bringing both tears and treasured memories to the surface.

In a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, Colby wrote, “Papa John… You dedicated your life to advocating for and creating miracles for the most vulnerable children in your community. You opened your doors when we needed you, sprinkling your magic during our tough times. Your care and love were boundless.”

It was tough to celebrate this wedding without your presence. We found ourselves in tears many times, as little things would trigger memories of you. There were so many enchanting moments we had never encountered before, yet the entire week of our wedding was filled with an indescribable magic all around us, she writes about the man who, as noted in his obituary, was the president of Santa America from 2015 until his passing.

Colby reflects on her cherished father-in-law: “Even though you were far away, focusing on your healing, you were with us in every moment, in every sunset and sunrise. In every hug and celebration. Though you may not be here in body, I sense your presence everywhere. Truly everywhere.”

A Supportive Community

Fans of American Pickers came together to support Colby and her new husband, filling their social media with warm messages of sympathy and encouragement.

“I’m truly sorry for your loss. Even though he couldn’t be there in person on your special day, he was waiting and found peace knowing you and his son would be there for one another, sharing comfort and perhaps a bit of his magic with others,” one fan expressed.

Another wrote, “What a beautiful display of love. I’m so sorry for your loss. Papa John is with you, and he’s smiling down on you!” A third fan added, “He will always be with you in spirit. I just wish it could have been in the physical world.”
