Determination and perseverance make it possible to achieve any goal. Often when you’re young, especially during the summer, you try to do a few jobs to save money, and in some cases even to be able to go to university later. Young people often try in every way possible to accumulate a nice little nest egg, for example by bringing groceries to old people, washing someone’s car, picking up leaves from a neighbor’s garden or repainting fences.

The 13-year-old boy in the story we’re about to tell, however, had a brilliant idea that earned him $27 an hour . Let’s see in detail what it is.

Ben Adler is a 13 year old boy from Melburne, Australia who was looking for a job to save some money. Many people told him that he was too young to work and had better enjoy his free time. But the young man, tired of being told these words, had a brilliant idea which enabled him to earn a good sum of money.

Often, especially in his city, house numbers are not very visible, which often leads to errors in the delivery of mail. That’s why Ben decided to get paid to paint the numbers on the driveways of the houses using a spray paint.

Ben charges just over $13 per painting. Every hour, he manages to complete two orders, which allows him to earn about 27 dollars (about 25 euros) . On weekends, he works about 20 hours and travels nearly 50 kilometers to his clients and back home.

“I always wanted to have my own business. Starting to earn money at a young age will allow me to buy my car in the future and be able to pay for college.”

One of his clients, Jim Magee, said the boy had done an outstanding job, but above all he was “very polite and courteous, a real professional”. The man added: “It has been a pleasure doing business with him. I will recommend him to all my friends who need a visible house number.”

What do you think of the idea of this enterprising boy?
